10/18/2005: "Rm115 Ginger Grueber- Late class, too many activities"

This class had a certain amount of frustration. I found that we were not able to get to the copying and pasting of pictures into kidspiration. It was enough to ask them to search for a term by themselves in the World Book Encyclopedia. Many students were successful.

Tardiness
The instructor brought the class 10 minutes late to me today. Because she is also at the end of the day, this meant that I was only able to get 30 minutes with her students. In addition, she wanted to leave prior to 3 o'clock. This means that I must create activities that require much less time. Many of these students were not able to even able to type in a word into the search field.

Expectations
I have yet to learn how to change my expectations to reflect the ability levels of the students. I think this will just come with time. Also, I need to be more reflexive when a teacher is late to my class. In the future I will scale down the lesson to reflect the time constraints.

It is difficult to understand that what is obvious to me is very difficult for some of these students. I was wrong to expect them to perform such a complicated procedure. Next time, I will shoot lower.

I check with other people trying to get the RSS feed to work for this site, and I get mixed results from it's you, to it's your browser. Can anyone confirm the problem?
