Rm116 Jakie Cuthill- Opening a word processor
Overview
I noticed that this class was a rather big leap from the second graders I have previously seen. At least, in terms of their computer proficiency. It is difficult to gauge the appropriote level of student's abilities and create activities that meet them where they're at. I was encouraged by their attention and behaviour, and I wish that I could have rewarded them with more. Unfortunately, there must be time set asside to outline expectations. Perhaps it will be time to show them the features of the world book encyclopedia resource. I should make a note to investigate that program further.

Rm109 Marsha Henry- Files & other basics
Overview
This class was very attentive and responsive. I was quite pleased. I thought that the bilingual nature of the students would have posed an obstical, but I didn't notice this. I tried to choose very simple language. The projector was not working at the beginning of the class time for some reason. This actully made for a very productive class time, however. I had a much closer personal connection with the students than I would have had otherwise.

Rm210 Raquel Lopez- Finding a webpage
Overview
This class was more successful with the initial procedure. This gave me the confidence in them to allow them to connect to a web page. We only had to repeat the room entering procedure once. In general, this was very much like the previous lesson with Mr. Horan's class. I expanded the metaphore of the spider's web to include a drop of water. The water strikes a fly in the web and travels along the web to another fly. The water represents a web page or an email message traveling over the internet.

Rm211 Brian Horan- The internet
Establishing rituals
I found the class room entering procedures to be immensely valuable during this time. It was immediately evident to me that I could utilize those expectations to establish respect. We practiced entering the room three times. It was easy to enforce a ritual that had already be laid out. I tip my hat to the foresight of the adminstration for their suggestion.

Rm110 Brenda Lortz- Files and programs
Overview
Went rather well. Got through the rules and entering classroom procedures rather easily. I found that some repitition was necessary. I went over the basics in as many different ways that I could think of. We talked about the dock and the menu. Also, we discussed how to open a file and how to save. I tried to utilize examples from "real life", and I tried to involve the students in the demonstration as much as possible. The projector is a priceless classroom tool. I don't believe I would have gotten very far without it.

Rm209- MIA
This class was not in the room. I waited for 15 minutes, then gave a call to the office to sort it out. No harm done; I was a wee bit high strung anyway. It was nice to gain my bearings. We'll just get to them next week.

Wiki Created for Computer Lab
I've created a wiki to document my efforts in the computer lab. This is because I have always wanted a wiki and because it is a monumental undertaking.

First Program written
I just wrote a program for Greenlee Elementary school. It looks good, and I'm quite excited about it. I wonder if they'll like it...
